Region-locked video

Rights holders often license content country by country, so a video can be perfectly available in one place and blocked in another. The block is applied by the platform based on where the request originates — which, for a web tool, is the server, not your computer. That leads to a confusing situation: a video may play fine in your browser at home while the download fails, because your browser and our server are in different countries. Music videos, sports clips and broadcaster uploads are the usual suspects.

  2. Try a different upload of the same content. Region rules are set per-upload, so another copy may not be restricted.
  3. Nothing on your end can change where the server sits, so retrying repeatedly will not help for this particular error.
  4. Other platforms and other videos are unaffected — this restriction is specific to that one upload.
